Sneaky Peek Day #5

Hello my crafty friends!  It's day #5 of Sneaky Peek Week at The Cat's Pajamas and The Cat Pack has outdone themselves again with some fabulous projects.  You can see which designers are posting today at The Cat's Pajamas Blog.

Today we're showcasing the new Mailbox CutUps die and Travel Stickers stamp set.  I've used the Mailbox CutUps die for both of my projects. The die comes with the mailbox, mini letter, a heart and a super cute rectangular dashed die. The mailbox is cut to be flat, but I created 2 different box type projects.  When I first laid my eyes on the mailbox, the first thing I thought was that it would make a perfect little treat holder.  In honor of spring, I chose some beautiful Stamperia shabby chic paper.  I cut two mailboxes and a strip of paper to go between them.  The elements on the front were cut three times to give them dimension. I finished it off with some Easter grass and jelly beans.

For my next project I created a shallow box to put on the front of my card to hold some money.   I used a sentiment from the new For Fox Sake stamp set, added some flowers and the heart die from the Mailbox CutUps and finished it off with a $100 bill.

Sneaky Peek Day 1 & TCP Tuesday Challenge

Hello my crafty friends, and happy spring! Thank you for stopping by for Day 1 of Sneaky Peek Week at The Cat's Pajamas. It is also the Envie Envy TCP Tuesday Challenge.  The Challenge is to decorate an envelope.

Available today there is a new stamp set, Year of the Pig and a new CutUps die set, Rectangular Stamp Duo.  Year of the Pig is an adorable set with lovely sayings and sweet pigs just being cute.  This sweet little girl pig is adorned with a crown that is a separate stamp in the set.  When I first saw the Rectangular Stamp Duo, I thought that it would make a perfect frame for a shaker card.  Lucky for me (and you!) we have new sequins available this month. The sequins I used are called Spring Mix.

The Cat's Pajamas TCP Tuesday Challenge #355

Hello my crafty friends and welcome to TCP Tuesday Challenge at The Cat's Pajamas. The challenge this month is called Envie Envy.  The idea is to decorate an envelope.  Who wouldn't like to receive an envelope with a hint of what is inside?   If you don't already decorate your envelopes you should give it a try. It's addicting!  If I'm in a hurry I will just add a strip of washi tape at the bottom of my envelope, but I really love to add some coordinating color.

I've been playing with Distress Oxide Inks lately, so I decided to go with a watercolor look.  I chose the Big Blooms stamp set, which was perfect for this technique. To achieve this look, I used a paint brush to dampen the watercolor paper, inked up my stamps, then stamped them onto the wet paper.  The more water you apply to your paper, the less focused your stamped image will be. After drying with a heat gun I used a water brush to apply the background.  After drying that layer of ink, I used the Dots CutUps die as a stencil and applied a light wash of ink with a watercolor brush.  Using a heat gun to dry between layers of watercolor allows you to layer color without all of the colors running together.
I cut the base card from watercolor paper and used a watercolor brush to apply the background color.

I created the envelope from watercolor paper, but used a slightly different technique.  Instead of getting the paper wet, I applied ink to the stamps.  I then spritzed the stamp with a water bottle and was able to stamp several images without reapplying the ink.  I again used the Dots CutUps die as a stencil to apply ink to the envelope.

Easy Peasy! I know, I know, that was cheesy.  Ha! I crack myself up sometimes!

If you'd like to play along with the Challenge, here's how it works:

  • Each month a new challenge will be posted on The Cat’s Pajamas blog and our Facebook page.
  •

See you soon!  Lynn

The Cat's Pajamas Blog Hop

Hello again my crafty friends.  For the last week, we have previewed The Cat's Pajamas new releases and now we're celebrating with a blog hop.  If you arrived here from Brenda's blog, you're in the right place.  If not you can start at the beginning at Kerry's blog. Hop through the entire lineup and prepare to be inspired!

My sweet card has a Valentine lovey dovey feel to it.  My favorite long eared bunny is part of the new Don't Be Koi stamp set. As well as the bunny, in this set there are four sentiments to choose from and a bucket of heart chum.  I stamped the hearts from the bucket below the heart on the fishing line.  Behind the bunny layer is the Round Bubbles Cutups die. I stamped the sentiment, then matted it and popped it up to make it stand out.  I laid two strips of patterned paper, popped up the bunny layer, and finished my card with some ribbon and the new Holographic Pink Holeless Sequins.  If you like sequins, you will love these!  You get four different sizes in the generous helping of goodness.  Also check out the Silver Saucers Holeless Sequins.

Now hop on over to Wendy's blog to see her creative take on this fabulous new release.

Sneaky Peak #5

Hello my crafty friends!  It's day 5 of Sneaky Peek Week at The Cat's Pajamas and today we're featuring the beautiful CutUps die set Enjoy. The set includes two dies, the word enjoy and the stitched background.  It's a good size to use on your cards or scrapbook pages.  Earlier in the week I used part of the stitched background as a cloud.  I love it when I can use my dies for more than their intended purpose.

My card today shows the Enjoy die as more than a sentiment.  It's actually the first element you see when look at the card.  I can see this being used with the new coffee themed Freshly Brewed Heaven stamp set and the new Coffee Clatch CutUps die set.
Enjoy the newest release from The Cat's Pajama's.  I'm sure you'll find one or two products that you love!

The Cat's Pajamas Sneaky Peek #3

Hello my crafty friends!  It's day 3 of Sneaky Peek Week at The Cat's Pajamas and today we're featuring the adorable stamp set Freshly Brewed Heaven.  I love anything with a coffee or tea theme, so I was thrilled when I saw this set with matching dies.  The die set, Coffee Clatch will be featured later in the release.

My project today uses both the stamps and CutUps dies. I stamped the coffee mugs with saucers on patterned paper, then die cut them.  I cut off the saucer for one mug and stamped and cut the saucer out in a different color for the other mug.  The foam and steam in the mugs were also die cut from the Coffee Clatch CutUps die set.  Take a close look at the steam, so darn cute! I chose on of the cute sentiments and stamped it on pink paper.  A few embellishments and I have a sweet card to give to one of my coffee loving friends.

The Cat's Pajamas Sneaky Peek #2

Happy New Year my crafty friends!  I hope this finds you happy and healthy in this fabulous new year.

We're changing things ups a bit at The Cat's Pajamas.  We'll have a new release every other month, and during Sneaky Peek Week, we'll showcase a new product every day.  The great thing is that the new products will be available for purchase on the day we feature them.

The featured product yesterday was the super adorable Don't Be Koi stamp set which stars our favorite long eared bunny.   Check out The Cat's Pajamas blog to see what you might have missed.

Today, we're featuring the Always Believe stamp set which has this purrsonality filled kitty.  I know, so obvious, but I couldn't help it! Oh how I love this guy!  If you purchase the stamp set, you can download the cutting file for your electronic cutting machine for FREE!

For my card I stamped the kitty and colored him with Copic markers, then stamped the umbrella on the yellow polka dot paper and fussy cut it out. For the sentiment, I stamped it, cut it apart, then matted each piece on red paper.  The cloud is die cut from the new Enjoy CutUps die, which will be featured later this week.  The set has the Enjoy die as well as the stitched shadow.  I die cut the bottom border using Wavy Stitched Border CutUps die, already available in the shop. I finished by embellishing with the new Holeless Sequins in Silver Saucers. These are truly some of the prettiest sequins that I've ever seen.  They're a little fancier than regular sequins and are soooo shiny!
