The Cat's Pajamas New Release Blog Hop

Hello again my crafty friends.  Release Day at The Cat's Pajamas is finally here and The Cat Pack has some extraordinary projects to share with you.  If you arrived here from Beata's Blog, then you're in the right place.  If not, you can start at the beginning at Julee's Blog.

I have two projects to share with you today.  The first is a sweet card using the new For Fox Sake stamp set.  The clouds, sentiment and fox are all part of this set, as well as many more adorable images and sentiments.  I used the new Round Flower Duo and Spring Tree Duo CutUps dies to create both layers of the frame.  I used foam tape to pop up each layer which creates depth.

For my second project, I created an elegant card using the Round Flower Duo CutUps die set for the black flower layer.  I added gold pearls for the flower centers. I cut the additional flowers out of blue shimmery paper and fussy cut them to add some dimension in the background. I stamped a sentiment from the new Jungle Boogie stamp set and added it to a chipboard tag.  The patterned paper and tag are from the Graphic 45 Kaleidoscope collection.

Sneaky Peek Day #5

Hello my crafty friends!  It's day #5 of Sneaky Peek Week at The Cat's Pajamas and The Cat Pack has outdone themselves again with some fabulous projects.  You can see which designers are posting today at The Cat's Pajamas Blog.

Today we're showcasing the new Mailbox CutUps die and Travel Stickers stamp set.  I've used the Mailbox CutUps die for both of my projects. The die comes with the mailbox, mini letter, a heart and a super cute rectangular dashed die. The mailbox is cut to be flat, but I created 2 different box type projects.  When I first laid my eyes on the mailbox, the first thing I thought was that it would make a perfect little treat holder.  In honor of spring, I chose some beautiful Stamperia shabby chic paper.  I cut two mailboxes and a strip of paper to go between them.  The elements on the front were cut three times to give them dimension. I finished it off with some Easter grass and jelly beans.

For my next project I created a shallow box to put on the front of my card to hold some money.   I used a sentiment from the new For Fox Sake stamp set, added some flowers and the heart die from the Mailbox CutUps and finished it off with a $100 bill.

Sneaky Peek Day 1 & TCP Tuesday Challenge

Hello my crafty friends, and happy spring! Thank you for stopping by for Day 1 of Sneaky Peek Week at The Cat's Pajamas. It is also the Envie Envy TCP Tuesday Challenge.  The Challenge is to decorate an envelope.

Available today there is a new stamp set, Year of the Pig and a new CutUps die set, Rectangular Stamp Duo.  Year of the Pig is an adorable set with lovely sayings and sweet pigs just being cute.  This sweet little girl pig is adorned with a crown that is a separate stamp in the set.  When I first saw the Rectangular Stamp Duo, I thought that it would make a perfect frame for a shaker card.  Lucky for me (and you!) we have new sequins available this month. The sequins I used are called Spring Mix.

The Cat's Pajamas TCP Tuesday Challenge #355

Hello my crafty friends and welcome to TCP Tuesday Challenge at The Cat's Pajamas. The challenge this month is called Envie Envy.  The idea is to decorate an envelope.  Who wouldn't like to receive an envelope with a hint of what is inside?   If you don't already decorate your envelopes you should give it a try. It's addicting!  If I'm in a hurry I will just add a strip of washi tape at the bottom of my envelope, but I really love to add some coordinating color.

I've been playing with Distress Oxide Inks lately, so I decided to go with a watercolor look.  I chose the Big Blooms stamp set, which was perfect for this technique. To achieve this look, I used a paint brush to dampen the watercolor paper, inked up my stamps, then stamped them onto the wet paper.  The more water you apply to your paper, the less focused your stamped image will be. After drying with a heat gun I used a water brush to apply the background.  After drying that layer of ink, I used the Dots CutUps die as a stencil and applied a light wash of ink with a watercolor brush.  Using a heat gun to dry between layers of watercolor allows you to layer color without all of the colors running together.
I cut the base card from watercolor paper and used a watercolor brush to apply the background color.

I created the envelope from watercolor paper, but used a slightly different technique.  Instead of getting the paper wet, I applied ink to the stamps.  I then spritzed the stamp with a water bottle and was able to stamp several images without reapplying the ink.  I again used the Dots CutUps die as a stencil to apply ink to the envelope.

Easy Peasy! I know, I know, that was cheesy.  Ha! I crack myself up sometimes!

If you'd like to play along with the Challenge, here's how it works:
